Lane County stretches from the crest of the Cascade mountains to the Pacific ocean. All residents of our county deserve to have basic necessities including a home, or at least a roof over their head while they transition to a home.
It is unacceptable that the rate of homelessness in Lane County in increasing. Lane County government has been a leader among local government jurisdictions in creating emergency homeless shelter camps. That is commendable, but stopgap measures are not enough.
I will work with local organizations to make sure that Lane County financial resources for the provision of housing and homeless shelters is being used most effectively. Working collaboratively we can provide the best available, least-cost housing options for families and individuals including those with special needs.
